SVENSKA, YAH!

Hi friends and family!
I am in Sweden (obvi) with no internet access or phone! It is really weird having no communication with anyone outside of Sweden, but it is also kind of nice! I LOVE it here! It is so beautiful. I am loving my group, and my roommate. Abbey. She. Is. Awesome. We are like two little peas in a pod. Sweden is beautiful, the weather is perfect, and the men... Well. Let's just say they are totally gorgeous. I am writing this at the outreach center they have in downtown Stockholm. The outreach center is where the young single adults of the church gather for activities, dinners, and institute. It's also where the missionaries teach lessons. It is a really great place. We have one more week in Stockholm, then we are off to Uppsala for our Swedish classes. I will for sure have internet there, so I will post pictures then! I have quite a few pictures to post, too! Just forewarning! Abbey and I are staying with a young single adult named Hulda Kissi. She is from Ghana, but moved to Sweden when she was 6. The apartment is half the size of an American studio (I wish I was exaggerating), so it has been a little bit of an adjustment. When I have more time I will talk more about the details of everything we've done and post pictures for sure. OH! Also, how could I forget? I SAW SNOOP DOGG IN THE AMSTERDAM AIRPORT! He was in my terminal just a few gates down. I was exchanging some money and he walked right past me. I didn't say anything to him, even though I wish I did! He had like 6 body guards around him, and was totally chester looking. But it was totally awesome. I loved it. Anyway, I would love to hear how all my cute little friends and family are doing so please email me at jordanbhurst(at)gmail(dot)com! Love you all!

Happy Father's Day

This year's Father's day is bitter/sweet, as my dad's oldest brother, Ross, passed suddenly on Wednesday morning. The funeral was yesterday. It was very beautiful, and we Hurst's are so grateful for the outpouring love from friends and family. I miss you Uncle Ross.

I just hope my dad knows how grateful I am for his unconditional love and support in all my endeavors. I really do have the most wonderful father in the whole wide world. I love you, Dad!

Quakes.

This past weekend my parents and I drove to Rancho Cucamonga to visit my brother, who is playing in the California League in the Angels organization. Rancho is quite an interesting place, but we had a lot of fun. It greeted us with probably the best mall I've ever stepped foot in and beautiful weather (minus the smog). It also contained more pregnant women, tattooed women, and obese people than I am used to. It was so weird! I asked my dad if he noticed the same thing, and he agreed. So odd! While Kyle was at the field, we would shop. I unintentionally cleaned up with 2 beautiful dresses from Ralph Lauren (I benefit from my dad only wearing Ralph) new jeans and lace sweater from Nordstrom Rack, and a shirt and skirt from H&M. There was also a JCrew outlet and I really thought I was in heaven. (Jenna, we HAVE to go.) At night we would go to Kyle's game and then dinner after.

It was so fun seeing Kyle in action. He's been playing with the Angels for two years and I have only ever seen him play in Spring Training. Minor league baseball is a seriously tough business. Games every single day, players being released, new drafts, people constantly moving between leagues, etc. There are people telling you how wonderful you are doing, along with people threatening you with being released along with telling you, you suck. I just hope Kyle can get his break. He's got the toughness, brains, and talent for it. I couldn't be more proud of him. Keep him in your prayers!

The stadium was absolutely beautiful. There is nothing better than perfectly cut grass, the smell of hot dogs and popcorn [contained within the stadium], and a well pitched game. (Some probably beg to differ, but I can guarantee nothing is better!)

Kyle's teammates are all really great guys who are so nice and funny. It was a really fun weekend! I am looking forward to going back next weekend :]

The D I S G U S T I N G smog! There's mountain in there somewhere!
